Michael Backstrom

Michael Backstrom is Senior Vice President of Regulatory Affairs for Southern California Edison, where he leads the company’s regulatory strategy and advocacy at the state and federal levels, including oversight of regulatory case management, environmental policy, rate design, tariffs, and cost recovery. Backstrom joined SCE in 2005 and has held several leadership roles across Edison International and SCE, including Vice President of Regulatory Policy, Managing Director of Energy and Environmental Policy, Director of Customer Experience, and Director of the Office of the CEO. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Pepperdine University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Southern California.
