John Smola leads customer solutions and corporate development for Southern Company Services, with responsibility for national accounts, federal energy services, electric transportation, and unregulated solutions. He began his career at Alabama Power, where he held roles in marketing, regulatory affairs, and business development, including leadership of the company’s Smart Cities initiative and non-kilowatt-hour services such as fiber and infrastructure. Smola holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Auburn University and an MBA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
